Providing support through the pandemic

Over the last year I approved over £24,000 of additional  funding to local projects to support our community. This is on top of  the funding provided by the Council to the pandemic food hubs like The Involve Centre and The Hamara Healthy Living Centre.

Free school meal boxes sent by outsourced providers (top) compared to the box sent by Labour-run Leeds City Council (bottom).
It was our Labour Council that stepped up to provide Free School Meals to children over the holidays until the Government was shamed to do so— even then they failed to provide enough food, paying a company £30 a box to provide less food than the Council boxes did - shamefully putting profit before our children.

Tracy Brabin for West Yorkshire Mayor

Tracy will fight for a Regional Recovery Fund and lead our Covid recovery - rebuilding our economy and create good jobs. She will support local business and make sure our high streets and hospitality industry recover from the pandemic. Tracy is committed to ensuring that our communities, towns and cities thrive post Covid.

Tracy said: “I’m proud to have grown up in a small town in West Yorkshire and I know just how important local shops and businesses are. Our high streets, hospitality sector and creative industries have been hit hard during the pandemic, and if I become your mayor, I will work day and night to support them to rebuild. I’m ambitious about the future of West Yorkshire and committed to making sure we bring investment and jobs here. I’ll be the strong champion that West Yorkshire needs. Too many people have been left behind by the Tories, too many businesses have been left without support and too many workers have been ignored."
